The Bases Conversion and Development Authority and the Provincial Government of Tarlac have expanded local consultations over the proposed Clark Advanced Manufacturing Park, or CAMP, in New Clark City.

The consultation brought together provincial officials, business groups, representatives from academe, civil society and other stakeholders to discuss the project's potential economic benefits as well as environmental and social safeguards.

Consultation held in Tarlac

The multi-sectoral consultation was held at the Tarlac Convention Center on August 19, with details publicly released on September 7.

Participants were given an opportunity to raise questions and provide local perspectives regarding employment, infrastructure, land use, environmental protection, community impact and opportunities for Tarlac businesses.

Advanced manufacturing planned for New Clark City

BCDA describes CAMP as a proposed advanced manufacturing ecosystem intended to attract industries connected to semiconductors, advanced technologies, critical minerals and global supply chains.

The development is being planned in connection with the Philippines' participation in the broader US-led Pax Silica initiative.

BCDA President and CEO Joshua Bingcang said the agency welcomes questions from Tarlac stakeholders and wants the development process to address concerns involving communities, the environment, land, employment and businesses.

Separately, BCDA and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples have been updating community information in Sitio Sapang Kawayan, Capas, as part of preparations and stakeholder engagement for the proposed development.

The consultation forms part of the planning and engagement process and should not be interpreted as confirmation that every proposed component has received final approval.
